The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” Nelson mandela was the first president of south africa. That quote to me means that courage is fear but also the triumph over that fear and realizing that anyone can triumph over that fear. The characters in the stories as well as in real life knew the dangers in doing the courageous actions they did but they all still continued forward to complete there task at hand. The quote i choose relates to the text “joseph Mcneil's transcript” Because it demonstrates how he was scared of what could happen but was courageous enough to triumph over the fear for what was right. Taylor was trained to bail out if anything went wrong. “But the parachutes were way too big. They weren’t fitted to us,” she says. “The force of that air and that speed and everything, why that just rips stuff off you. You’d slip right out.” proving that there safety equipment did not help them at all because they were to small to fit the parachutes. Supporting evidence is also shown in paragraph 13 and 14 “So her plane was smoking and Taylor faced a defining moment.“I thought, ‘You know what? I’m not going until I see flame. When I see actual fire, why, then I’ll jump.” emphasizing they had to be brave enough and have enough courage to not just jump out when u see smoke u had to wait until there was fire or you were going to crash and jumping out most of the time lead to death because of the safety equipment not fitting
