The boat was flipped over by a wave that then climbed onto the boat. The boat took two hours for it to sink. A man on a rescue boat discovered the surviving victim and managed to get him help. The ages of all victims ranged from 28 years old upto 50 years old. Many of the bodies took a long time to find and also, to identify. Poetic Devices: The poetic device of personification is used in this poem. Personification is the attribution of a personal nature, or human characteristic to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form. The way that this poetic device is used in this poem is how an emotion is given the ability to ask a question. I felt like the way in which the questions were answered can make the reader experience what hasn’t been experienced before, just like some people believe that you can only experience a certain kind of love once. I feel like making a new stanza to answer the last question was effective. The pause made it sound like a dramatic and showed how much it struck her and hurt her to answer it.
