The willingness to fight was never something Churchill had to get used to. From his early years, he fought in many wars ranging from all the way in Africa to World War 1 in Europe. Churchill never had it in him to surrender, he always wanted to fight on whatever the cost to his troops or him. Fast-forward about 25 years and he became the Prime Minister of Britain and he still had the same amount of fire in his eyes but now he had to consider the safety of an entire nation. Churchill was one to take action and not lay back and just let things play out, he wanted to fight, and he wanted absolute victory against the Nazi regime. Churchill could not imagine a Britain where the Nazi flags flew over places like Buckingham Palace, Westminster, and other important British buildings. Churchill wanted to take action against Hitler and he was not going to let anyone get in his way.

It was not in Churchill’s good nature to let his people suffer and he just could not imagine it, so he had to do something about it. As stated in Anderson’s article, Churchill’s lesson was to never give in, never, never, never, no matter how bad things get or how much the odds are stacked against you, never give into the might of the enemy (Anderson line 73-75). Once you give into to your enemies or daemons that is when you truly lose your battle, when you give up is when you truly lose. Throughout Churchill’s time as Prime Minister, he did face some loses but he did not let them weigh him down, for he was too much of a leader to let the people of Britain see him while he was down.
