I should be selected as a Senate Youth Delegate from Missouri for many reasons, including the numerous leadership positions I’ve held and am currently holding, such as being the president of my high school’s National Honor Society, the Junior Class President, a 4-year member of student council, and the section leader of the drumline in my high school’s band. While my qualifications consist of more than my character, I personally believe it is my most important one, as it is the reason that I can even say I possess all of the traits I have, and it works in concert with my leadership. Anybody who knows me will tell you I am a very personable, extroverted, humourous (maybe that one is debatable), grounded person, as well as a good listener. As I’ve said in my first essay, I find people fascinating, and it is this fascination that allows me to interact with everyone in a way that I believe leaves them in a better mood than when we had just started talking. Leading others just comes naturally when I’m already able to communicate with them so effectively. The makings of one’s character require a great deal more than just being nice to people, however. With kindness comes respect, and if I am not respected by my peers, I cannot hope to, in any capacity, lead them or hope that they take me seriously. That is why, as I said, many would consider me to be a good listener. It is the legitimate care and interest in what others have to say that has given me this reputation. This is why building relationships and treating everyone I meet with respect is very important to me, and it is because of the way I treat others that I believe should be another reason why I should be chosen to attend this stellar
