Countries define effective leadership in a variety of ways. While some countries focus leadership on fear and power, other countries focus on respect and propriety. Each country chooses a leader leader or ruler to assist in governing and leadership. These decision making process can be broken down into two classes: dictatorial leadership and collaborative leadership. Theres is a mix between these two forms of leadership. The United States, for example, is founded on collaborative leadership. The United States consists of a president as well as the Senate and the House of Representatives to lead the country. North Korea on the other hand is ruled under a dictatorial leader. The leader takes complete control of the government and befriends North Koreans. Throughout history, collaborative leadership has shown to produce better results, although other forms of dictatorial leadership have argued the opposite. …show more content…
As Machiavelli stated in the second sentence of the source, “It may be answered that one should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, is much safer to be feared than loved, when, of the two, either must be dispensed with…” Machiavelli claimed that a prince must not put all of his faith in the people because they will turn against you whenever there is a difficult time. He instead explains that it is better to instill fear in the common people to avoid hatred amongst the people. He support the leadership on fear and power.
