In chapter 8 “Speaking Smartly about the Salem Witchcrafts” thesis is Samuel Sewall 's family life during the crisis of the Salem witch trials. Samuel Sewall 's brother Stephen who was the director of the court throughout the trials, had fallen ill putting stress onto Sewall himself. In spite of this Sewall was facing issues in his home life. For example, Samuel had to give his son corporal punishment because Joseph had thrown a brass knob at his sister Betty causing her head to start bleeding. In addition, Joseph acted up again by throwing a tantrum, later he swallowed a bullet but later excreted it in the orchard.
Kelly introduces his essay by making a brief summary on how automation has started and he describe how they are influential. He mentions a statistical data that two years ago, “70 percent of American workers had lived on the farm… and Automation has eliminated all but 1 percent of their jobs.” Through this data, Kelly notices that pattern will eventually continue in the future. He continues to predict that 70 percent of today’s occupation will be replaced by automation.
The Great Forgetting Nicholas Carr’s essay, The Great Forgetting, argues that automation causes employees to be less prepared and less skilled as they become over dependent on computers to do most of their work. Carr provided several examples of cases about pilots not knowing how to properly take control of the plane after the computers malfunction, taking the plane out of autopilot. Ultimately, it led to planes stalling and crashing; killing everyone in it. Instead of operating the plane manually, pilots become computer clerks as they turn their focus from piloting to monitoring the computers.

In Chapter 4, David Thomasa speaks about truth telling and how it becomes an important key factor in a clinical setting. “In each of the three main reasons why the truth must be told, as a right, an utility, and a kindness, lurk values that may from time to time become important than the truth.” (Vaughn 155,2017). By saying telling the truth is a right, he implies that it is a way of showing respect to another person. If the physician and patient experiences reversed roles, I would expect them to want the physician to be honest with them as well.

Close Reading Questions Bradbury sets up an atmosphere of loneliness and isolation in the opening paragraphs of the story by repeating the word alone. Throughout the opening he keeps bringing up the fact that Mr. Leonard Mead is alone because there are no other citizens walking around at night. Mead’s “brightly lit” house tells the reader that he is not a normal citizen in this society, and that he has lights on, unlike his neighbors whose only light is the TV screen. It also tells the reader that he is unique, and the reader later finds out that he is a writer who can develop thoughts and ideas. The evidence for this is when the narrator says at the end of the narrative, “...but this one particular house had all of its electric lights brightly lit, every window a loud yellow illumination, square and warm in the cool darkness.”

When the Wright brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk in 1903, the world couldn’t imagine flying across the Atlantic, or even to Japan in fourteen hours.
The benefits of owning a self driving car are so great, more should be on the road. One of the greatest, most desirable advantages is that there will be way less car accidents, and less fatal ones too. The article, “Self driving cars are just around the corner. Is it a good thing?”
Technology will evolve, as it is in its natural way to do so. Thus, in the car manufacturing area the purpose for the near future is to produce autonomous cars. People love the idea of making driving more enjoyable and comfortable, and less stressing by continuously keeping the steering wheel and pushing the pedals. Having such technology available is great, but everyone is thinking about comfort, enjoyment and pleasure of traveling by car. There are more sensitive matters that must be discussed regarding autonomous cars, and some of them are responsibility and ethics.
