Families are always in history and in the present being forcefully separated from each other when it is not expected. In history, the Holocaust separates families when they were being put into concentration camps. Now, immigration is causing families to be separated. Also, in Night by Elie Wiesel is separated from him mother and sister during his time in the concentration camps.

In chapter 7 of Night, Elie and his father are transferred to a new concentration camp, where they are forced to endure grueling labor and terrible living conditions. In a situation where your body is surviving on a thread, your stomach is inflated due to starvation and all the strength you had before is gone, you have to rely on mental and religious strength to carry you through your hardships. In Elie Wiesel’s “Night”, Elie talks about his personal experiences and hardships he faced during WWII and his life at Auschwitz as a young boy. Throughout the story Elie pushes through losing his mother and sister, lashings, seeing babies burned alive and the fear of death but also the hope for it in some situations. No amount of physical strength can help someone survive in the brutal place Auschwitz. Everywhere in the story Elie and other characters show that with mental and religious/spiritual strength, you can push through any hardship you have to face.

Elie Wiesel helped people around the world learn about the Holocaust through his book “Night.” He wanted people to see the bravery, courage, and guilt of the Jews through his book. “Night” shows the horrific and malicious acts in the German concentration camps during the Holocaust.
After reading the first 32 pages of the memoir, Night, I noticed what makes this work There were two key notable factors that made this memoir excel. The most obvious yet effective one is his incredible utilization of tension. To explain, Elie purposely created tension throughout every page by leaving out important details. This causes the reader to wonder before he reveals the information. For example, he writes, “One day, as I was about to enter the synagogue, I saw Moishe the Beadle sitting on a bench near the entrance”(Wiesel 6).
When Elie and the prisoners saw that the pipel was hanged the prisoners asked where God was and why doesn't he save them and why would let a little boy die for no reason. The prisoners had to watch when the noose went around the pipels neck until the pipel took his last breath. When the hanging of the pipel was over the prisoners wondered, “Where is the merciful God . . .”(64). The convicts wanted to know why the God who is supposed to keep them safe and who they put all their trust in won’t rescue them from the agony they have been put through.

Imprisonment played a big roll in the book because they book is telling you what it was like to be held hostage during the holocaust, what it felt like, what they did to survive. While being imprisoned for being jewish, they were also separated from their families, well Elie stayed with his dad but he got separated from his mother and sister, and couldn't do anything about it because if he tried he would most likely be thrown in a pit of fire. Being imprisoned comes with more than just being taken, Elie was starved, and just hated by everyone.

A theme from Elie Wiesel’s memoir “Night” is losing faith in god. I think that this is a theme that presents itself throughout the book. Elie shares his story of being brave and persevering through the holocaust. Elie bears witness to the horrifying events and showed a clear representation of what a jew would be going through during WWII.

Being a human can involve dealing with our feelings, mistakes, and regrets, unlike other things like machines, or devices. In the book “Night” by Eli Weisel, the book shows how the German soldiers don’t treat Jews like humans and even take away some of their humanity.
By reading the book Night I think the author, Elie Wiesel, achieves many things in his book. For instance, he explains the deep tragedies that went in Eastern Europe during the Holocaust. He goes deep in depth into what happens between the gas chambers, the executions, and many other things the prisoners of that event had to go through. Something I think Wiesel achieves one of the great things a author can do for their readers.
