“Granted, our task is to inform. But information must be transformed into knowledge, knowledge into sensitivity and sensitivity into commitment”. This quote was written and told by Elie Wiesel to show the transformation of which Elie Wiesel went through as being a jew and during the holocaust. The quote states that “information must be transformed into knowledge knowledge into sensitivity and sensitivity into commitment all the words have something in common. Elie Wiesel was a survivor of the holocaust which back then was the worst experience in life.
Losing a family member, a dog, or even getting into drama. Everyone always finds a way to get strength through hard times. Elie Wisel found strength in his dad because he was the only person he could look up to in the camps. The book Night taught Elie Wisel to find strength during hard times. Elie Wisel and his family were sent to concentration camps.
During World War ll, a very well known man, Adolf Hitler, chose to kill himself when he was put in crisis, leaving his country in ruins, as well as revealing that he was very much selfish, cowardly, and scared. As shown in the novel Night written by Elie Wiesel, during the Jewish Holocaust, when put in testing situations, many people act poorly towards the Jews, and the Jews show hatred towards the Germans. Also, in the short story ¨The in Group¨ by Eve Shale, a young girl by the name of Eve chooses between popularity and rightfulness. In both Night and ¨The in Group¨ it is demonstrated that crisis brings out the worst in people, because challenging situations put more pressure on people, resulting in poorer choices, and crisis additionally causes people to show selfishness.
“To forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time” (Wiesel XV). In the novel Night written by Elie Wiesel, this quote shows how the world should not forget about the Holocaust and that we should recognize the reality of genocide of the past and the present to stop it from happening it again in the future. I think Elie Wiesel quote is the reason why we should remember the Holocaust because if we do not recognize what the Holocaust is about or pass our knowledge or understanding to our future generations, it has the potential to be repeated. There are three reasons why I believe it is important to remember the Holocaust and why our future generations should never forget it as well. The first reason is remembering the Holocaust
Night by Elie Wiesel is a memoir of his experience as a young Jewish boy, during the Holocaust, who was sent to a concentration camp. Eliezer has a difficult time maintaining his faith when he sees the other prisoners lose faith and humanity. He takes the audience through his daily life during this time, showing what he went through and the battles he faced. In Night, Elie deals with many tragic instances where he thought of how he would be better off taking care of just himself and not his father. Self-preservation versus family commitment is the most important theme in the novel because, throughout the whole story, Elie shows the audience his commitment to his father and his family, but in the end, Elie chooses himself.
Connor Chapel Mrs. Newsted English March 15 2023 Some books twist one’s heart in a very unexpected way. This was true for the book “Night” by Elie Wiesel. Throughout the story, I started to wonder if fear or hope was greater. Throughout this story, Elie showed love, and how brutal this camp was, and he showed faith in his family and God.
Years after his experience at Auschwitz, Elie Wiesel described the conditions within the concentration camps in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Wiesel was quoted in this interview stating “In that time, it was humane to be inhumane”. Throughout the novel Night the concept of humanity is explored. After reading the novel I concluded the people are born good but they have the choice of following the right path and making the right decisions or under the pressure of society turning to the evil.

Night Critical Abdoul Bikienga Johann Schiller once said “It is not flesh and blood, but the heart which makes us fathers and sons”. But what happens when the night darkens our hearts our hearts? The Holocaust memoir Night does a phenomenal job of portraying possibly the most horrifying outcomes in such a situation. Through subtle and effective language, Wiesel is able to put into words the fearsome experiences he and his father went through in Auschwitz during the Holocaust. In his holocaust memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel utilizes imagery to show the effect that self-preservation can have on father son relationships.
When responding to situations in life, people must consider if what they are doing will benefit themselves or the people around them. In circumstances that demand quick thinking, people often can not form a concrete decision based on how little information and time they are given. In life, people must frequently try to do so through their daily battles with the people around them, in addition to themselves. People's hardships often affect what will compel them to respond, in many areas of a person's environment they are tied to certain deprivations in life, either privately or through another person. With those ties, come the understanding and compassion, these setbacks can help others gain a better insight into another person's difficulties.
Imagine believing so strongly in something and then being let down, or thinking that you were wrong even to believe. In Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie felt as though he had lost his religion and belief in God. We learned how strong his beliefs were when he says,“I believed profoundly. During the day I studied the Talmud, and at night I ran to the synagogue to weep of the destruction of the Temple,” (Wiesel, 14).

My Mom was born into a Jewish family and my father converted from Christianity to Judaism. My family and I aren’t the most religious people. We do celebrate Hanukkah and light the menorah, but we don’t do Passover nor do we read the Torah, so I didn’t know a lot about the holocaust, but now I do. The book Night by the Elie Wiesel tells us the authors journey through the holocaust, like the things he experienced, what they ate, and the hardships they faced.
To find a man who has not experienced suffering is impossible; to have man without hardship is equally unfeasible. Such trials are a part of life and assert that one is alive by shaping one’s character. In the autobiographical memoir Night by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, this molding is depicted through Elie’s transformation concerning his identity, faith, and perspective.
