Losing a family member, a dog, or even getting into drama. Everyone always finds a way to get strength through hard times. Elie Wisel found strength in his dad because he was the only person he could look up to in the camps. The book Night taught Elie Wisel to find strength during hard times. Elie Wisel and his family were sent to concentration camps. They were always being told what to do and had no freedom. Elie and his father are very religious, but as the days and weeks went by, they started to lose hope in what was to come next. Unfortunately, Elie did lose his father during the Holocaust. During the time of the Holocaust, people would find different strengths to get them through the hard times. In addition, during the Holocaust it was a hard time for everyone living through it. Elie Wisel looked to his father and family as a strength to get him through his hard times. In the novel Night, Elie tried to find different sources of strength, seeing other people he knew, especially his dad who was a big one. “Every encounter filled us with joy-yes, joy:Thank you God! You are still alive” (Wiesel 35). During the Holocaust people hardly saw family or people they knew, so every so often when Elie did see someone he knew it would give them a little ounce of joy. That shows that family is a big part of his life and when he feels like he is failing he looks up to them and that is what gets him to try and not give up on everything he does. Furthermore, the Holocaust survivor Magda Herzberger tried to find hope in every chance she could get. She looked up to God during the hard times.
