His faith is tested when he witnesses infants being burned alive at Birkenau and later when he himself faces death in the crematorium. Despite these trials, he continues to hold onto his belief, offering a final blessing to God before his supposed death. Elies experiences highlight the enduring strength of faith in the darkest of times. Olga's testimony shows the theme of faith, when she was separated from her family and faced a dehuminizing process of Lager C. Olga grew up with a good family but, soon they had to join other Jewish families and pack into a cattle train with no food or water. Soon they arrived at Auschwitz. Olga was separated from her dad, and her and her younger sister were forced into Lager C. Watching loved ones die in the gas chamber shattered them but, even within the horror, a glimmer of faith remained.
