WWII was one of the most dangerous and hostile times in history. The Jews and Japanese were sent to concentration camps to work for the war effort. The Jews were experimented on, tortured, and killed for no reason by the Germans. Japanese were moved to the camps for their safety and the safety of Americans’. In the books Night and Farewell to Manzanar, there were some similarities both camps shared and some they didn’t. The main characters of story both shared some of the same characteristics too. In the book Night, there were many differences it had from the book Farewell to Manzanar. One difference it had was the main character of the book was a boy instead of a girl. The main character was a girl named Jeanne Wakatsuki. The conditions they lived were far less dangerous than how they lived in Night. The camp was located in America. The camp was built to keep the Japanese safe from Americans in mistaking them from the enemy. There camps allowed people to speak to each other and offered people jobs but in low wages for the war effort.
