Governmental Crime: The Nixon-Watergate Scandal and the Trump-Russia Scandal Us Americans believe that our government is truly amazing, and some of us even consider said government to be the best that exists in the world when honestly, we're living in a lie. The white house is a place of scandalous happenings, despite the front, they try to keep up. Such examples are the historical Nixon-Watergate scandal, and the current Trump-Russia scandal, where both the president and the government cooperated to do a crime. The Nixon-Watergate Scandal and the Trump-Russia Scandal are related by the President’s cover-up attempts, the involvement of FBI/Other important government organizations, and the overall corruptness of the events. Despite the evidence against him, Nixon decided to deny any involvement in the Watergate break-in. Nixon’s helpers broke into the offices of the Democratic Party and stole documents and information via telephone. When he was first asked, he brushed it off and denied any involvement, until more evidence was brought to light. Nixon’s “assistants” in the Watergate robbery were composed of former C.I.A and F.B.I officers. The information was leaked by F.BI personnel, including “Deep Throat”, an informant. The F.B.I wasn’t even aware of one of their agents, G. Gordon Liddy, was the head of Nixon’s “Plumbers”.
