The article entry "No, Teachers Should Not Carry Guns” is based off a New York school principles thoughts about educators carrying guns in their rooms or on them selves while at school. This article i most definitely eye catching because any person who stays up to date on news knows the amount of school shootings we have had in the past and we are still trying to find a resolution to this issue that keeps arising more around the country. By using 3 words “no”, “teachers”, and “guns” . Those words alone grab the readers attention insanely quick, considering you most definitely do not put teachers and guns together. He comes off very authoritative, and tries to make sure that the readers know that by telling them his background with guns and how he is a school principle. The author wants you to see that not all teachers agree to the “teachers carrying.” He has the power on us readers because most of us aren't both involved in school and strong on using guns in circumstances. He then states that you just don't know what you would do until you are in the actual circumstance, using a school shooting as an example. By saying that he in my opinion steps down a little from being authoritative in this article, because that goes to show that even he doesn't know considering he had never been in the situation either. Another draw back on him being authoritative is the fact that he states that a teacher is now a hero because when a school shooter was in side of the school she talked him down to calm and surrender. A comment in which i agree on was stated “ Although she's a hero and very brave for doing so, lets not forget about every school shooting BESIDES that one where the teachers were shot and killed if they were in the way” (http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-guns-be-allowed-in-schools) Which brings a great argument to the table. People don't go to schools to shoot and stop because of nice words, thats like saying once you pull a trigger on a gun you can take back whatever that bullet did. No, you pulled the trigger to do something. Just like these people go to the schools to shoot and keep shooting. Life in prison or a death sentence doesn't seem fun in their mind so they go and go until they are killed or until they kill them selves. Its common with most school shootings.
