Noddy Goes to School was a children's book that made headlines for it’s racist content and it still continues to affect the hearts of the people who once loved it (Hartston). The book has sold a lot of copies making it a very popular book. The schools across London and the Eastern seaboard removed it from their shelves because of inappropriate content. Noddy Goes to School was a children's book with many problems like racism which Enid Blyton had used before. Noddy Goes to School was written by Enid Blyton and has a theme and plot that has a very positive impact on kids. The books teaches kids not to be self centered and cocky. How they show this is that they have a character named Noddy who thinks he the best and his head grows to big for his hat to sit on his head (Blyton 19). In Noddy Goes to School there is lots of classism and racism which was the reason it got banned i the first pace.The book was banned from the 1960s to the nineties making it have been banned for 30 years. It was banned in the U.K. And in some small parts of the US (Hughes). The reason Noddy Goes to School was banned was because in the beginning of the book it shows that Noddy is going to wash his car and then a “golliwog” shows up and talks about how he should clean his car's teeth (Blyton 13). Then Noddy sprays him with a hose and the golliwog runs away crying and after that and congratulates him (Blyton 14). Some of the other reasons it was banned is because they thought that tessie bear was a feminist and of the political incorrectness of toyland. Many schools and librarys would take down this book and start campaigns about Noddy and how it should be taken out of schools (Adams).
