INTRODUCTION The Cretaceous Period, spanning 65.5-146 million years ago (Mya), was a world different from what we are familiar with today. Planetary changes during this period included the extinction of dinosaurs and drastic global warming. The breakup of the super continent Pangea had started about 30 Mya, and seaways had begun to form and cover landmass that had once been a part of the super continent (Geologic Time). Today, scientists know that one of these landmasses, the North American continent as we now know it, was at one point covered by a vast inland sea known as the Western Interior Seaway.
Stop 1 – Stinky Cove/Fossil Point. After loading the bus we headed east on Cape Arago Highway until we got to fossil point. We parked and unloaded the bus and began walking along the small exposed sandy beach. At the bend we stopped and were asked to find a fossil, as I wandered around I couldn’t find much other than the ground up shells mixed in with the seaweed and sand. As we continued to walk we came to another spot where we were able to observe scallop fossils mixed with the rock it was coarse and grainy much like sandpaper.
The gold coast is situated in South East Queensland 80km for the capital city of Brisbane which is located in the subtropical climate. First, the history of Devils Lake starts in prehistoric times. According to OnMilwaukee, an online news system, historians believe that during prehistoric times Devils Lake is now what it is because of glacial activity. Years ago, Devils Lake was surrounded in huge mountain ranges but through weathering and erosion has created the breathtaking bluffs and the large body of water there is today. One popular theory scientist have about Devils Lake is that years ago the Wisconsin River flowed through the gorge but the water became trapped between the glaciers. Over time the water trapped between the two glaciers became the well known lake.
1. Saturday, December 1941: There is a tremendous amount of people in Long Beach. There are about twenty to twenty-five boats getting ready to leave, including Papa’s “The Nereid” boat, to take off for the fishing season. It is a beautiful day with clear skies. Kaskaskia River If there is one place you can find me in the heat of the summer or the bone chilling winter it is definitely the Kaskaskia River. Me, my boat, and whoever wants to come with. It’s the one place I can go to and forget all of my problems and have the time of my life and the cool thing is it's only 40 minutes from my house. i can go there 365 days of the year and let the beautiful surroundings suck me in.
Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island, where the fog rises before your eyes. In the summer between the tenth and eleventh grade, my family decided that Vancouver Island would be lovely to visit. I agreed; I would have a chance to photograph what I never have before. Although it was summer, the temperature was significantly lower, with the sun straying close to the clouds. I remember the open sea, in all its unrestrained glory, the way it nipped at me as I strayed near the edge of the cliffs, I did that often.
If I could be anywhere right now I would choose to be on the beach in Florida. I would be in Fort Myers Beach, Florida because that is my favorite place to visit in Florida. When I visit Florida I enjoy laying around the pool and going to the beach. Florida is my ideal place for relaxation, it clears my head. I always have a hard time saying goodbye to Florida because I always have such a great time when I visit.
