Over the years, non-profit organizations have been detrimental in our society, benefiting people with many different causes. These are the organizations that serve to the public and offer and provided a wide range of services. These services are implemented to improve the quality of life for both the community and the people. Many of the workers who are involved in non-profit organizations are volunteers or temporary workers who are motivated by the organizations cause. The benefits of nonprofit organizations is that they are seen as the opportunity to assist the community through funds and volunteer work. Many corporate organizations are always looking at the big picture and money, and never look to help the community. This is where nonprofit organizations come in place, to give a voice to the people and help them improve their quality of life. Before this class, I knew what non-profit organizations were, but there were always a few questions I had about the organizations. Such questions like how do they get funding? Why exactly do they want to help the community? I also learned of the many nonprofit organizations in America are there not for the cash, but the purpose to help the people with their needs. My perception of non-profit organizations has stayed the same, but it has given me a new perspective and actual experience on how these organizations affect people’s lives. Working at Chicago Alliance, I’m working with people who want to help for the better cause of equality and justice. Nonprofits who help the community should be organizations that help for the betterment of the community and for the people in the community who don’t have a voice. Non-profit organizations can also help with unemployment and boom the economy. According to Lewis Humphries article How Nonprofits And Commercial Groups Can Help The Economy, he says that, “nonprofit organizations are responsible for employing an estimated one in 10 U.S. citizens, and figures suggest that the voluntary sector has also been responsible for a faster rate of job creation than private organizations (Humphries). Not only do non-profit organizations help the people of the community with employment opportunities, it also generate huge sums of revenue for the economy.
