Violent v. Non-violent protesting Protesting has become a prominent part of American history. Throughout American history protesting has been extremely effective in making a difference. With times changing in the 1960’s, people were turning to protesting so that minorities would have equal rights. Non-violent protesting is an effective way to convey a message without causing harm to people or places. Non-violent protesting is effective because people across a community, state, or nation can participate without committing any crime. When people are active in non-violent protesting, no harm is caused to individuals, businesses, or property which benefits the whole community.
