Meredith drowning herself is a good verbal scene, this scene takes place on her deathbed. It is a very confusing scene so I will try my best to make it sound not so confusing… Meredith is in heaven, dead, at this point and she is surrounded by people that were once her friends and/or patients. These people Danny, Dylan, Liz, Bonnie, and her dead dog Doc, are all trying to to get an answer from Mere on why she didn’t fight in the water to stay afloat. Meredith continues to answer wrong so she continues to relive the scenes of those whose deaths still haunt her. This is not Meredith's first attempt on drowning herself, Derek had previously found her at the bottom of the bathtub not coming up for air. It is hard to hide emotions. I decided to branch out from just Mere and Derek for these next few paragraphs. Nonverbal communication is often shown through the intensity of the show. Doctor and interns always have a look of panic or they are quickly scrambling around the hospital. That all gives us the viewers aware that something is wrong and the viewer can classify whether the situation is a major or minor emergency. A great example of nonverbal communication is a look into every resident first solo surgery. This is the best or worst day for the intern. The intern is so proud of themselves. The excitement they have comes into play with a smirk, or huge grin, enforcing a positive attitude for a great outcome. On the other hand, if that solo surgery ends badly watching them reveal to the family about what happened the facial expression from the intern that was once excited is now solemn and depressed. When they tell the family what happens they are often head down, slouched, and straight
