Comparing Governments - North Korea and New Zealand
Around the world there a many different styles of leadership types of government. In this essay, I will be comparing two systems of government - New Zealand and North Korea. I will also comment on which country I would prefer to live in, and why.
What is the system of government
In New Zealand the system of government is a democratically elected House of Representatives. It is based on the principle that “The Queen reigns, but the government rules, so long as it has the support of the House of Representatives.” In other words, the Head of State of New Zealand is Queen Elizabeth II, whilst the Head of Government is the Prime Minister, John Key. The country is run by a dynastic line of dictators. A dictatorship is a form of government where a country is ruled by one person a dictator. The dictator normally has very high authority over their people and most of the time they regulate what their people do with their life private and public.
How long has the political system been in place
From 1910 to 1945 the Japanese had North Korea under their rule. When in 1945 world war ll ended, north and South Korea split into two separate states, north and south. From then on to 1948 they had military governments and after 1948 there government was how it is now.
Before 1993 new zealand used the fpp system of government. FPP, known as first pass the post, It was a system where people could only vote for the mp they wanted to represent the area they lived in who ever got the most votes won. From then on new zealand has used the mmp method of government known as mixed member proportional. The reason why new zealand change from fpp to mmp is because there was a breakdown of public trust in
