I must convince China that their desired outcome for N. Korea, stability, cannot be achieved until the nuclear threat from North Korea is completely removed. It is imperative that they begin to understand that they must take on a more active role. The isolation and sanction tactics we’ve imposed has made N Korea more reliant upon China as its primary source of food, fuel, investment, and international political support. The turmoil surrounding N. Korea’s nuclear possession directly affects China’s security. Regrettably, China is doing very little to move the denuclearization effort forward. Instead, they are encouraging North Korea to improve their economic development through acceptance of their politics in order to increase their own economic and national stability. Prolonging and ignoring the issues merely extends and exacerbates the danger.
