There are many great books in the world and we just have to look for them if we want to explore their knowledge. One of those great books is the “Norwegian wood“, it was written by Haruki Murakami, an extraordinary author of the modern age literature, and became one of the best novel of all time. The book was published in 1987 and it was about a young Japanese college student named Toru Watanabe. Through Watanabe's reminiscences we see him develop relationships with two very different women, one is the beautiful but emotionally broken Naoko, and the other is Midori, a funny and full of life girl. At the beginning, A 37-year-old Toru Watanabe has just arrived in Germany. When he hears an orchestral cover of the Beatles' song "Norwegian wood", he is suddenly overwhelmed by feelings of loss and nostalgia. He thinks back to the 1960s, when so much happened that touched his life. Watanabe, Naoko and Kizuki are best friends, while Kizuki and Naoko develop stronger feelings toward each other and become soulmates, Watanabe seems happy to be the enforcer. Kizuki takes his own life on his 17th birthday and his death deeply affects both his friends; Watanabe feels the influence of death everywhere, while Naoko feels as if some integral part of her has been permanently lost. Naoko and Watanabe spend more and more time together and eventually they ended up having sex. After that, Naoko develops some mental issues and have to quit college to move into a sanatorium to treat her mental illness. The students at Watanabe's college go on strike and call for a revolution. Inexplicably, the students end their strike and act as if nothing had happened, which enrages Watanabe as a sign of hypocrisy.
