In the article "Don’t blame the eater" written by Zinczenko, he argues that fast food is the main reason why so many teenagers are suffering from obesity in United States. He explains that many companies will use advertisements to deceive customers. For example, a company’s website offers a chicken salad with less than four hundred calories per serving; however, they don’t label everything that the salad has In the first label. They will use separate labels in the products that the salad has on it, so the costumer gets confused and thinks that he is actually eating a four hundred calories salad that is "healthy". However, he is actually eating a seven or more hundred calories meal.
In the story “So I ain’t no Good Girl “written by Sharon Flakes. I felt like the scene was very realistic, the characters made the scene very realistic by the way they were acting. The author described the scene pretty good when she said: “if I scream at him the whole street could hear me”. I can also relate to the scene in my everyday life. A boy and his girlfriend where at a bus stop with some other girls, And Raheem starts to act a little flirter with the good girls who made his girlfriend kind of upset about the situation, so she tries to talk about it, but he got mad at her and ended up making out with the good girl.
In The Dancer by Vickie Sears a young girl, Clarissa, finds herself and her confidence through dance. This took time, devotion and passion. At first, Clarissa was young, a bit odd and very isolated, this is shown in line 61 “as quiet as she could be, she was”. For example, Michael Servetus came out with a book called “The Errors of Trinity” which criticized the ideas of the Catholic Church.

‘Be Music, Night’ by Kenneth Patchen is an intriguing piece of literary art. A picture is painted of human interaction with Earth immediately. The manner in which humans fall into her beauty and vastness is apparent in even the first lines of Patchen’s poem, but why is this important? “Be music, night, That her sleep may go Where angels have their pale tall choirs” This choir is brought on by our musical mother nature.

The poet is writing to be the opposite of these low-lifes and to live your life out to the full potential, Though in the beginning being pessimistic the poem has an overall optimistic tone. Another way optimism is displayed in this poem is towards the end when the poet writes that you shouldn't “Live not for battles won.” (10), or “Live not for the-end-of-the-song.” (11), but to “Live in the along.”
James Baldwin’s concept of the ‘innocent country’ is how America is in a position that permits discrimination towards people of color, one-hundred years after their emancipation from slavery (Baldwin 10). A permissible discrimination that has allowed people of color to be recognized as something lesser than a human being. Within Baldwin’s essay The Fire Next Time, he writes of a rhetorical concept of innocence, which can be recognized as the racist social norms of America (5). Problematically, this allows the mental perception of a person to commit a hate crime, and believe that their offence is permissible since racism continues to be normalized.

He uses diction as well as syntax to get his purpose by tying to persuade the audience to make changes or alternatives with their usage of lighting. Paul Bogard starts off with words that are captivating and that leave the audience thinking. When Bogard uses diction like "too much artificial...wrecking habit...blanket of light..." it makes the audience re-think the way they saw our planet. Also, when he instills the impact that light can have on us both positively and negatively on our bodies, it gets the people to see other perspectives.
Nightjohn Even though the United States have improved, we must not forget the horrendous acts of slavery. In the historical fiction novel Nightjohn, by Gary Paulsen, the topic of slavery is thoroughly explained. Although Gary Paulsen’s novel, Nightjohn, is considered historical fiction, descriptions of brutal punishments, resistance to conditions, and Determination to learn can be corroborated with multiple sources. The book Nightjohn shows the historical accuracy of brutal punishment as if the people who were enslaved were trapped in a cage with a starving tiger.
For example, the speaker describes what his father’s hands look like: “With a palm caked hard by dirt” (Roethke, 14). In other words, his father is a hard worker that provides for them and this gives him human qualities. He does this because he loves his father no matter what altercation comes about. For example, the speaker ends the poem by describing how he is put to bed: “Then waltzed me off to bed / Still clinging to your shirt”

In the poem “Do not go gentle into that good night,” the poet uses a metaphor to compare death as “night” and “dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas repeats the lines “Do not go gentle into that good night” and “Rage, rage against the dying of the light” in each stanza to emphasize that all men should not accept death, but fight it until their last breath. He describes four types of dying men before addressing his father. First, he states that intelligent men that know death is near and have not had any impact on society still fight to live: “though wise men at their end know dark is right, / Because their words had forked no lightning they / do not go gentle into the good night.” (Lines 4-6).
“Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night” is a poem written by Dylan Thomas at the time when his father was at the brink of death. The piece is actually a villanelle where it consist of six stanzas, each with three lines except for the sixth stanza which has four lines. The rhymes on the first until fifth stanzas are aba, aba, aba, aba, aba. While, abaa is the rhyme for the last quatrain stanza. Thomas died a few months after his father, it is believed that this poem was written by him especially for his father.
