Green to Gold
In his poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” Robert Frost presents the idea that nothing lasts forever. He uses tone, form, and metaphor to establish this meaning. First, the speaker is saying that nothing lasts forever. “Nature’s first green is gold” (line 1) the green is the new life of innocence that begins in the spring or at the beginning of life such as a child and its birth. The first breath of life, when the cries that you may hear as the baby shows that life has begun. The playful child and the imagination that they must play and enjoy what life must offer. Their imagination and how they grow and live their lives to learn, laugh, and to live life. The freshness of the new day, the morning sunshine and the dew of the morning burning off with the sunshine, buds blooming, and the birth of all that is new and vibrant. God created life in all things from the beginning to the end. From the “green” to the “early leaf’s a flower” all things were created for our pleasure to see the beauty with our eyes, hands, and smells. To smell the beautiful flowers and the grass growing. Blessings are all around us and life is wonderful don’t waste what time there is. For at the end is death and “nothing gold can stay” the “gold” is the end of life. There is no going back and living your life we must live every day to its fullest from the beginning. Life is a wonderful and precious time, have no regrets and let the “gold” in your life count for something.
