In contrast, the rhetorical strategies used by Lisa Byers displays a nice phenomenon about Fraternities, the credibility of this writer was respected due to the interviewing of many of the fraternity members to know why they are doing this. According to the article that shows how frats are trying to help the local community, one of the member says “As a fraternity and an organization on campus it is part of our ideals and founding beliefs that we should be helping the community,” said Allegheny sophomore John Kauffman, a member of Phi Kappa Psi. This proves that not all fraternities are bad for the community and this perspective is showing that some members care about the development and improvement of their university even though many people

The universities must be filled with talented and well-educated people in the United States. In order to achieve a more diverse environment, Bloomberg’s foundation, the American Talent Initiative, instills a goal: to increase the number of Pell Grant recipients attending college within ten years. Michael Bloomberg creates a coalition of colleges including private and public colleges to commit to being more diverse. Moreover, Jeffrey Valdespino Leal, a Stanford freshman, is an exemplar of a low-income student intermixing with the elite university students. Jeffrey Valdespino’s experience shows people that the middle class can achieve success at an Ivy League school.
“Preparing people to lead extraordinary lives.” (“Mission & Identity: Loyola University Chicago,” 2016, para. 3). After arriving in South Bend he met a priest who listened to his dreams and helped him make a plan towards achieving his goals. The priest helped him with his acceptance into Holy Cross and encouraged him to make good grades to boost his GPA before applying to Notre Dame. Being heard
Finding Tufts was like grocery shopping: I had to pass through aisles of lackluster Wonder Bread before discovering the scrumptious sourdough I needed. I was captivated and surprised by the endearing personality that shone through the articles I read. For an institution, I found Tufts to be quite human. “Pax et Lux” is not just an aphorism above a doorway; the ultimate advice of the dean himself is to “be kind”. It was apparent that in addition to academics, kindness and character is of utmost importance, which assures me that at Tufts I will have the most comprehensive college
The association also encourages alumni to reach back to our campus and help today’s students succeed. Journal Entry 3: Regulatory Issues in a Culture of
Usually bands are a group of members who get along, but that was the problem, for the Eagles that was rare. They constantly fought, people left, they took too long making albums, but they produced some of the best music in the rock and roll history. They got many awards and had thousands of fans who loved them for their music, worldwide. The Eagles have a big impact on rock and roll music. The Eagles started their performing career in high school, where they started earning many achievements including getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Marywood University incorporates a mission statement where they base a campus state of well-being off a list of core values including, empowerment, service, excellence, catholic identity and respect. We are working towards a goal in a community at Marywood that presents these core values as a set of words to live by on campus, but in our hearts we have to connect meaning to them. Sometimes, it might be hard as a college freshman to know these words by their definition but rather what they mean to them and how they can actually put them into action. The book “A Good Man” and the speech “This is Water” represent the Marywood core value of Excellence in two completely different ways in which a Good Man represents the physical actions of Excellence
The University of Chicago offers a plethora of advantages to its students. Given its advantageous location, UChicago acts as a cultural, economic, and social hub in the city of Chicago. The city exposes its students to a melting pot of cultures through its impressively diverse student body, which allows for the facilitation and diffusion of differing ideas and thoughts. Having grown up in rural Indiana, this assimilation into a completely new sociocultural sphere would foster personal and academic growth and a broadening of my own perspectives. UChicago embodies American ideals of civic virtue, charity, and community involvement through its expansive civic engagement initiative.
Being a man for others means being able to fill demands for justice, and not being limited by time and place; a man for others is willing to do what is necessary for serving others. Being a man for others is also being Christlike by knowing when to be selfless, noble, and even affable and joyful, as Christ is. This is the path that I hope to pursue at Jesuit and I am encouraged to know that this is the path that God desires for me to pursue. Though the athletics programs and facilities on the Strake campus are desirable, I can more importantly be academically successful at Strake as well. The rigorous yet rewarding acedemic program at Strake Jesuit will benefit me by making me a mature, college and career-ready
When a school like the University of Chapel Hill, it is virtually impossible not to get caught up in all of the school spirit and pride that this campus takes in being academically and athletically vigorous and successful. This is illustrated through everyday events like the “UNC ” and “Tar Heel” that are seemingly in every student’s social media bios, or the plethora of Carolina blue t-shirts seen in the pit on a daily basis. This undying love for UNC and everything it encompasses is even more undeniable on nights like Saturday when the Carolina basketball team smoked Duke and it felt like every student ran as fast as they could to celebrate the victory together on Franklin Street. Being enrolled here it feels like students who never cared
"This lack of academic engagement is real, even among schools with the best students and the best teachers, and it increases dramatically as the quality of the school decreases. "(Gutting 454-455). When I read this section, I was surprised. I thought having the best teachers and students would increase the quality of the school. However, the article mentions of the lack dedication of professors.
I grew up in a public school, but ended being split away from my friends, like my best friend at the time Danny, who was my close teammate on the basketball team in middle school. He ended up going to Niles North and I ended up going to Notre Dame. Danny and I would play basketball and train with each other all the time, so when we split up he said “Now we’re gonna get to play each other and see who’s really better.” Danny and I were really competitive because he was always thought to be better than me by everyone
Also, Notre Dame faculty treats students more maturely.
