The book “The Odyssey” and the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou” are very similar in their plots. The character Odysseus from “The Odyssey” is comparable to the character Ulysses Everett from “O brother Where Art Thou” because they both overcome many obstacles along their journey and are put into similar situations. As you read these two stories, it is very easy to see the comparisons, and understand them fully. The character Odysseus from The Odyssey is comparable to the character Everett from the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou” because of the relation between both story lines. The summary of these two stories are easily connected through many things throughout the plot. To portray Odysseus’s journey he says “What I want and all my days I pine for is to go back to my house and see the day of my homecoming.” This shows that Odysseus may have had fun along the way but he just wants to be home. Likewise is stated in “O Brother Where Art Thou” whenever Everett is sitting around the campfire with Delmar and Pete. To show Odysseus’ problems, the cyclops father says to him, “Neither reply nor pity came from them.” This shows that Poseidon was not going to make Odysseus journey home easy. In addition we also see the struggles of Everett in “O Brother Where Art Thou”. To see the similarity Everett is told this by Cooley, “It’s the end of the road for you boys.
