PepsiCo knew they had to do something off the wall to grab people’s attention. They also knew the target audience had to be able to relate to why they’d want or need the product. So they came up with Puppy Monkey Baby, a combination of common Super Bowl commercial icons. Co-staring the target audience; young men.
In the advertisement, Puppy, Monkey, Baby, Mtn Dew takes a unique approach to appeal to their audience. The commercial begins with three guys mentioning how they would like to relax for that day, however, a hybrid animal appears out of nowhere. This unexpected appearance leads to a chain of events where eventually the three individuals follow the animal and drink the beverage it gives them. A few rhetorical techniques were used to draw the viewer’s attention, one of them being repetition.
The play” Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” was an interesting look at bullying through the eyes of teenage peanuts characters. We all remember our innocent childhood friends that walked us through the experiences of life, introducing new ideas and everyday interactions. Well, those kids grew up and Charlie Brown and the crew now show us the reality of the teenage struggles in the 21st century. The interpretation was very insightful and the characters felt real, creating a connection with childhood friends and reminding us of the reasons we loved them.
Character Analysis of Marie from “Puppy” by George Saunders In the short story “Puppy” by George Saunders, Marie is driving to Callie’s house to purchase a puppy for her children, Josh and Abbie. Throughout the drive to Callie’s, Marie is trying to connect with her children but they are not interested. Once Marie makes it to Callie’s home, we can see how judgmental she is when she talks about the uncleanliness and disorganization. She decides against purchasing the puppy after seeing Bo, Callie’s son, chained to a tree.

However, this commercial does not only influence the audience to purchase a truck but; the advertisement portrays a life lesson that every person should know and practice. The commercial by Chevrolet titled, “A Boy and His Dog,” is extremely effective and persuasive to the audience through emotion, ethics, and logical situations.
The realistic fiction story, “Ashes”, by Susan Beth Pfeffer is about a young girl who has two very polar opposite parents. A fun, but irresponsible father, and a practical, proactive mother. Ashes faces a major dilemma when her financially troubled father asks Ashes to steal from her mother’s emergency fund for his own personal needs. Sometimes, the people you love most can be selfish and deceive you. This relates to my story because Ashes’ dad is manipulative, deceptive, and selfish.

“The Shawl” and “The Years of My Birth” by Louise Erdrich One similarity between the two stories is the theme of abandonment of a child by its mother and a difference is that one ends on a very sad note and the other on a hopeful note. The ending of “The Shawl” is tragic and the ending of “The Years of My Birth” is hopeful as Linda has created a life for herself and moved beyond the tragedy of her earlier years. Other themes similar in both are twins and mothers are self-centered and care more about themselves than their child.

Callie has a tougher outlook on life as she sees no wrong in teaching her children natural selection and pleasing her husband even though the relationship may not be perfect. Marie has more of a higher class outlook on life as on how she views Callie and her living situation and what she thinks about the puppy. Callie also seems content on sheltering her child in a yard or a small space because of his tenacity to run off however she also wants the children to experience what the world is really like. Marie uses Callie’s family dynamic to teach her children the treatment others receive and what they have to endure.
This disobedience only adds to the conflict which is not good for either of the two. The mother then finds out that she has breast cancer. Lola, the daughter, has no sense of empathy towards the mother. They still fight like crazy. And after more time has gone by, the daughter finally decides that it is time for her to run away and literally get out of the hands of her mother.
Knowledge can be compared to a torch, or fire. Fire brings light and can help guide us through darkness. At the same time, fire, when not used wisely or contained, can lead to destruction. Similarly, the human species can use knowledge to further advance us, or we could let it tear us down. This is a common theme in the novels
A personal belief that many people have is that puppies are one of the most adorable creatures in the world. The young, energetic, playfulness of one can bring joy and love to people who are a fan of dogs. The story by George Saunders titled “puppy” brings to light the youthful nature of children and how they are like puppies needing understanding and guidance. On the adult side of the spectrum, adults may not always make the best decisions just like puppies when it comes to making choices about the people they love and having clear judgment. The story is set in the belief that we prioritize the people we love based on the conditions and choices that come with that person.
One becomes independent when they are able to adjust anywhere with little to no guidance or reassurance needed. Being independent is an exceeding character trait, which transforms one’s initiation, ultimately leading them to achieve their true ambition. The constant theme of maturation and developing independence appears in the novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, written by the English novelist, Mark Haddon, which follows the life of a fifteen year old boy, Christopher John Francis Boone, who is attempting to write a murder mystery novel. In the novel, Christopher has a mental disorder that makes thinking, analyzing, and acclimatizing to new environments extremely difficult. Christopher must adapt to his new peculiar lifestyle after finding out his mother had an affair with his father, and is shocked when his father reveals that he murdered Wellington, their neighbour’s dog.
