Occupational Effectiveness is the ability to get personal fulfilment from your job or your chosen career or field. Occupational effectiveness involves making use of your gifts, skills, and talents in order to gain purpose, happiness, and enrichment in life. Every physical being is interested to do what they feel is right for them. When I was younger, I wanted to be a musician; I wanted to be a sound creator to catapult the world into a better future, applying music as a profession. The desire came from my involvement in music from early childhood. I was introduced to music at age 4 while I was in Nursery School. Being a covenant child, I joined the church choir at age 10. Nature determines the characteristics and features that can be inherited in you since your ancestors are endowed with the same features. For example, my grandfather and great grandfather were musically oriented. This set the chance of me developing into a music oriented person because I simply inherit the properties of my forefathers in matters relating to music. Every member of my family plays a role in various musical arrangements aside from our various professions. When we observe that someone is capable of some things, we come to assume or conclude that he is talented. Talent enriches performance: The reflection of how you are inside is what differentiates you from others in your industry. What differentiates you is your talent. Talent is what enriches your performance. What you know originates from what you have learned and practiced, while talent is a multiplier that increases your performance. 6. Talent doesn’t guarantee success: We have so many talented people roaming the streets who have not been able to achieve anything for themselves. If talent is an ingredient to success, the world won't be occupied with talented people who are not successful and successful people who are not talented. We might once heard about a promising writer but never hear his name again because talent doesn’t always translate into success. 7. Talent is situational: If we are to put together a basketball team, we will find various kinds of talent: a point guard who is very quick with his hands and feet, which allows him to dribble and pass the ball very effectively; and a person who is seven feet tall because height in basketball generally means capacity for achievement. They have attributes that may influence success in basketball. In some situation, we know people who are talented but they did not succeed for some reasons. We sometimes consider talent to be universal, that a talented person will excel in any situation. Talent is not learned but it gives a natural advantage to success in a specific situation.
