March 01, 2023 Occupational therapy (OT) is one of the many jobs in the medical field. The therapists help people who have gotten into accidents or had a stroke. They also help people with developmental, mental, and emotional disabilities. Occupational therapists help people by teaching them how to do many daily tasks affected by their injuries or disabilities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Therapists teach these patients skills such as managing time, budgeting, using public transportation, and doing household chores in order to help them cope with, and engage in, daily life activities.” OTs also evaluate …show more content…

Disease and Occupation is about occupation throughout a lifespan, and the human disease process (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Psychosocial and Cognitive Strategies examine theoretical framework, application of purposeful activities, and occupations used as therapeutic interventions (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Fundamentals of Occupational Therapy helps with rehabilitation in: listening, reading, writing, and speaking for occupational therapists (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). For Occupational Therapy Theory and Clinical Reasoning, University of Southern Indiana states, “This course presents development and application of theoretical constructs, practice models, and frames of reference that relate to the profession of occupational therapy.” Physical Disabilities/Ortho is the course covering etiology, prognosis of developmental and cognitive disabilities, acute and chronic diseases, and traumatic injuries (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Occupational Interventions/ Evidence-Based Practice goes over the principles of occupational therapy, and clinical reasoning to have quality care (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Occupational Therapy Research teaches the importance of research (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Occupational Considerations of Activities of Daily Living is about the important activities in life (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). In Professional Trends/Emerging Practice, the students learn about the trends of OT (University of Southern Indiana, 2023). Applied Neuroscience goes over the functions of the nervous system (University of Southern Indiana, 2023).
