Occupational Therapy “I didn't really have an idea for what I wanted to do, I just knew I wanted to help people,” said Grace Milward, OT at Mercy Hospital. Grace goes on to say in the interview that occupational therapy allows her to maintain a stable and flexible job, helping people in a variety of ways, and in a variety of settings. Occupational Therapy is a fulfilling career, because it is both flexible and stable, improves patient’s quality of life, and uses creativity to help patients Occupational therapy can provide stability while also being a flexible career.
“Occupational therapy is a growing field, new opportunities are opening all the time”. The median salary for OTs was 85,570, whereas the median U.S. income was 69,717.
“The employment for occupational therapy is projected to grow 14% from 2021 to 2031”. “Many employers offer flexible part-time or PRN (when necessary) work”. Occupational Therapists help patients by teaching them new ways to perform ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
