“Nohbdy that's my name Nohbdy so my mother and my father call me all my friends”. When Odysseus says this it's a plan because Odysseus and his men blind the Cyclops, but when the Cyclops calls to his friends he's going to say nobody hurt me so his friends won't believe him and think he's messing with them. There are many ways Odysseus is a hero but this example shows his intelligence and his Larger than Life quality which makes him the hero he is.
A hero is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. In the movie, Odysseus shows that he is a hero by showing off his bravery and courage to defeat several monsters. He showed courage when he faced the Cyclops, when he met Lotus Eaters, and when he went back to Ithaca to see his wife. Odysseus and his men went to the cave to show the Cyclops that they are better than him. The Cyclops got angry when he got back to his cave since Odysseus and his men were eating the Cyclops’ food.
Most people will say that Odysseus is a hero, but in many ways he is not a hero in any way. In the Odyssey, Odysseus goes on a long journey. Through that journey he encounters many challenges. In almost every bump in his road, somebody ended up dead or hurt because of Odysseus.
Odysseus portrays those three heroic traits throughout his voyage home to Ithaca, which is why he is a hero. Odysseus is highly dedicated to his reputation and ego for the whole of his rocky and treacherous journey. From going up against a cyclops that is five times the size of him, to placing wax upon his crewmates’ ears to mute the singing of the Sirens, Odysseus is brave when he faces his fears and intelligent when he creates lifesaving tools from ship materials. A modern hero can be someone who saves a life or even sacrifices his or her own for someone else. Odysseus can be compared to a modern hero because he risks his own life to protect his crewmates.
A hero is someone who protects and sacrifices for the people who can not do that for themselves. A hero is brave and courteous, and makes decisions to benefit the greater good, even if it means taking the short end of the stick for one’s self. Odysseus is a largely dynamic character that undergoes many hardships and obstacles that test his abilities and his morals. After being taken from his family, Odysseus embarks on a harrowing journey with more than its fair share of anguish, suffering, and sorrow. Although Odysseus acheived his dream of returning home in the end, the unfaithful and deceitful path that he walked to do so stripped him of all heroic qualities while also sacrificing the life of every man in his crew.
Odysseus is a hero Odysseus is a hero because all he wants to do is go home and protect his family. There is many thing that can support this claim. There are many things that can prove otherwise. One reason for this claim is odysseus is smart, brave, and kind and another reason is he wants to go home and protect his family.
Over the course of the Odyssey, it is mentioned that Odysseus is a Trojan war hero. He showed tremendous amounts of courage when he left his homeland and family to fight. Odysseus doesn’t know if he will ever make it home, and if he didn’t, his son would grow up without a father and his wife might remarry. It is said in the Odyssey that Odysseus was the one who came up with the idea for the Trojan horse, which ultimately won the Trojan wars. During Odysseus’s journey home after the war, he encountered various instances where he was forced to show courage.
In the epic story the Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus is returning from the Trojan war, and on his way home he finds many obstacles ahead of him. Odysseus is the ruler of Ithaca and he is trying to return home to his land. Many creatures try and stop him from achieving his goal of returning home, but he and his crew have to push through and get home. Odysseus portrays bravery and courage leading his crew through these tough challenges. Odysseus heroically leads his crew and himself through dangerous obstacles, but also foolishly endangers them during the journey home.
What makes a hero a hero? If a so-called hero has major flaws, is he still considered a hero?Odysseus did many great and heroic things but some of the things he did make him look less like a hero. Odysseus can be thought of as very brave in the physical and spiritual sense but because of his failure to get his men back home to Ithaca and his unfaithfulness to his wife, he was not truly a hero. Odysseus is thought of as a hero in the physical and spiritual sense because of his bravery while facing the many dangers of creatures, goddesses, and many other things for almost 20 years trying to get home to his wife and son. He never failed to remember his main goal was to get back to his wife and son in Ithaca.
Heroes in basic novels or short stories are mostly portrayed as being nearly perfect in every way. Most heros overcome great struggles while others go on a great quest where they come to an impasse at one point or another. Afterwards, the main characters finish their grand journey and receive a “happily ever after” ending. The character Odysseus in The Odyssey is a solid example of a glorified hero everyone thinks about. Odysseus is an intense fighter in The Odyssey and The Iliad, known to be almost “god-like”.
When you think of a hero what do you think? You are probably thinking that there are strong or they are part god? Well, there is one hero who isn’t very strong and is just a mortal man; his name is Odysseus. Odysseus was known for his smarts and his ability to think before he acts. You need proof, read on!
Throughout Odysseus’s adventures he shows the reader his heroic qualities as we learn about his strengths, weaknesses, and other personality traits. The most important components of a hero are the journey they take, their leadership, and the change they show over the story. In the Odyssey, Homer illustrates how a hero isn’t just someone who defeats the villain to save the city, but rather something much more complex by displaying Odysseus as the hero. Heroes often
Some disagree, arguing that Odysseus is an admirable hero. They might rationalize this by stating he is a hero due to the fact that he was able to remain determined and courageous despite the hardships he and his crew faced. In fact, Odysseus is valiant enough to trick the giant Cyclops, Polyphemus, that had trapped them inside of his cave, stating ‘“Nobody is my name. My father and mother call me Nobody, as do all the others who are my companions.”’ (9.366-367).
Some think Odysseus is a hero for many reasons, mainly because he helps many people including his family and his crew. Even when terrible things happen to him and his crew he perseveres and continues on his journey home. Even though Odysseus and his men do bad things like eating the sun god’s cattle there still are many reasons why he is a hero. One reason to support my claim is that he saves his crew many times. One example is when they sailed by the Sirens.
In the book The Odyssey, the main character, Odysseus, is a man who is loved and respected by many. In the beginning of the book, we learn that Odysseus has left on a journey and, since it has been many years since his departure, many people assume that he has passed. On his journey, he portrays his many traits, not all of them being good ones either. Some of his good traits include his cunning, bravery, and hard work ethic. On the other hand, his negative traits are his excessive pride, immense curiosity, and rather large temper.
