At least one time in our life we have been asked “who is your hero?” What really is a hero? Going out of their way, a hero benefits everyone. Because they care about everything around them, they help everyone; a hero is mostly someone who cares. No matter what age or what someone believes in, someone has a hero. It is the person they look up to the most. Everyone “worships’ their hero. Whenever someone asks me who my hero is, someone who is overly kind and loving comes to mind. A hero has everyone’s respect. Heroism is not all caring but it someone is who heroic: deeds of greatness for the benefit of society. The courage a hero shows surpasses everyone in the normal range. Eventually his men eat the cattle and he says “O Father Zeus and gods in bliss forever, you made me sleep away this day of mischief!” (lines 915-916) This quote clearly shows that Odysseus is not a hero. Although we do not know how much Zeus is to blame, a hero would live up to the mistakes they make. By saying “this day of mischief” Odysseus basically is saying that this day has been a great sin. If he were a hero he would have the courage to live up him being a part of the sin. Odysseus immediately tries to blame Zeus and the other gods. It was Odysseus’s fault his men were starving and had nothing to eat. He was not there to remind his men that the cattle was not for eating.
