In part one of Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus uses his epic hero qualities to help him out on his quest to get back home to Ithaca. He’s shows superb intelligence when fighting the cyclopes in “Book 9.” That’s a quality of superhuman intelligence that Odysseus possessed all throughout his entire journey. Another epic hero quality that helped Odysseus was help from Greek gods and goddesses. In part two of Homer’s Odyssey, Athena helped out Odysseus when he got back to his home land.
A heroic person is best described as someone whom is extraordinarily bold and that daringly goes to extreme measures for particular reasons. Odysseus lived up to such heroic qualities numerous times throughout Homer’s epic, The Odyssey, while on his voyage home to Ithaca. Homer has created Odysseus as a heroic figure in the Odyssey possessing characteristics of savior, courageous, and sly. Savior was shone while is on the island of the Lotus Eaters, home to a harmless group of people who eat only the flowering lotus plant. The theme of trickery plays a extensive role throughout the Odyssey, especially within Books 13 and 14, and is displayed through the concepts of lying and disguising. Throughout Homer’s Odyssey, the instances of Odysseus lying to Athena disguised as a young man and disguising himself when talking to his swineherd illustrate this theme of trickery. After being at sea for 20 years, Odysseus, the main character, doesn’t trust anyone or rush back to his house, when he gets back to his homeland, Ithaca.
In Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus uses lies as a protective disguise against strangers. Not only does Odysseus utilize lies to keep his identity a secret but also, through the use of specific language, he conveys unspoken points. These points invoke different feelings and opinions in the people to whom he lies. Odysseus can quickly tailor his lies depending on the person and the situation he is in. Odysseus’s skill of creating intricate falsehoods and his use of lies as a way of controlling the thoughts of person he’s lying to, reveals his exceptional tact and guile.
A hero is someone who is revered for his or her exceptional achievements and bravery. Anyone who puts themselves before others not for recognition or an award, but because it is the right thing to do, is a true hero. In "The Odyssey," written by Homer is an epic poem about a man named Odysseus and his crewmates competing against the power of the gods to return to their homeland, Ithaca. Throughout his journey, he loses almost all of his men, but Odysseus finally arrives home, concluding his prolonged twenty-year voyage. Odysseus must battle the suitors that have taken his wife Penelope, and may soon kill his son Telemachus.
In The Odyssey Homer makes Odysseus’ journey to his beloved Ithaca excruciating. Odysseus encounters many friends and foes throughout his journey and has to be a leader throughout his experiences. As an example, he encounters Polyphemus and Poseidon, both of whom make his journey mentally and physically painful. Odysseus faces countless scenarios in which he has to save multiple people in those situations. Although he is a mortal man himself, he has many interactions with the gods that shape his journey. To begin, the wind god, Aiolos, gifts Odysseus with a bag of winds to take him home. Unfortunately, his crew lets the winds escape, so he returns to Aiolos' island. Instead of helping him again, Aiolos refuses and drives Odysseus from his land. "

Odysseus had so much genuine love for his with Penelope and Penelope had so much genuine love for Odysseus. So much so that Odysseus would go through all those trial and torment just so he could get back to her and Penelope would stall the suitors for twenty years because deep down she knew Odysseus was still alive. Odysseus was motivated to go through that whole journey so he could see his wife again. Odysseus didn’t even give in to the temptation of Poseidon’s daughter Calypso, when she offered to make Odysseus immortal if he would marry her and stay on the island forever, but Odysseus wanted to see his wife and he escaped. Odyssey itself denotes as journey full of adventures or a series of experience that give knowledge or understanding to someone. This denotation proves me, because when I watched the journey of Odysseus, it brings me knowledge and lesson to me. His story is full of adventure and romance that really caught my interest. I salute him because he went to Troy to fight although he needs to left his wife and new born son. He show his braveness and toughness when he won the Trojan war with the help of Gods.
The story of Odyssey is one of wonderful movie I’ve ever watched. Because the story is all about god’s and goddesses and about an adventure of Odysseus that not that just an adventure Odysseus made me admire him not only his good looking but also he’s brave, smart, tough and loving husband to his wife even though there’s a fans of women he encountered, Penelope will not be just ordinary girl for him. One thing I admire about him is how he handles the situation. I’m quite disappointed about him because he just knew how smart and good as a warrior he is acts arrogantly to the god of the sea, Poseidon. But then I still admire him even he done wrong doings, of course there’s no perfect creatures in this world.

The Odyssey portrays many themes including vengeance, hospitality, courage, bravery and more. Odysseus experiences some good and bad during his journey. He comes across people who help him, but also comes across creatures who hold him back. Odysseus is an Epic hero because of his quick thinking skills, bravery, and confidence for himself and his men.
