In the epic the Odyssey, Odysseus, the Greek hero, shows restraint throughout the entire poem, which is what I believe is the most important trait. In the Odyssey, the hero Odysseus first shows restraint when on the Land of Helios, Odysseus tells his men not to touch the cattle. They then ran out of food which made his men and him very hungry. Odysseus’s men were unsupervised and the cattle were just wandering around. His men then decided they were so hungry that they had to eat the cattle. Odysseus was the only one that didn’t participate in eating the cattle even though he was just as hungry as his men. This is only the first time he shows restraint.
