The Odyssey fits into the era because it tells a story that actually occurs during the Bronze era, Likewise, characteristics of the time show up in the story such as worships. (Use key events of Hero’s Journey): Home-Odysseus’ home is in Ithaca Greece. Separation-Odysseus didn’t want to go to the Trojan war but had to because “As one of Helen’s suitors, Odysseus was bound to the oath to defend her and Menelaus (history 101.com) . Point of No Return- The point of no return is in the storm the Gods make because they are mad at Odysseus. Departs-Odysseus’ departure from known land to unknown land when he is with the cyclops. Allies- Odysseus’ allies are the Phaeacians and his workers.

Gift- Alcinous, king of the Phaeacia gifts Odysseus with passage home. Mentor- Odysseus’ mentor is Athena Challenges-Challenges that Odysseus faces include fighting in the Trojan War, facing the Lotus Eaters, fighting the Cyclops, having to deal with Circles and Calypso, and surviving through the sirens. Final challenge- Odysseus’ final challenge is to see if his family and friends are still waiting for him or not also to prove himself he passes an archery test.
