In the play of Oedipus the King, the author demonstrates tone and diction by representing elements and rhetorical strategies that enhance the audience's imagination.
Each of the characters from this play have concerns towards the knowledge they know. The first characters which are Oedipus and the priest seem to be at peace with each other. The language they use seems emotional yet plain. The priests assumes that since Oedipus is the ruler, he will have pity for him. But in all reality, Oedipus seems confident and not interested in what the priest is offering.
