The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters is an aquatint print that was created by Franscico Goya in the year 1796 and is number 43 of a series of 80 prints. It is believed that many of these prints were meant to express disdain for the pre-enlightenment practices that were still popular in Spain at the time. His goal for the series was to urge people into action for a more open Spain, not unlike the French Revolution.
