“I knew that we had to abridge our journey;” he said,” my men would never be able to
last very long in this terrain.” Luckily Sgt. Jefferson had many adherents, so his men would
follow him through thick and thin. Although Sgt. Jefferson’s men may have had a small
altercation every now and then, he was always able to regain control of them in just few minutes.
Sgt. Jefferson was hiking through the snowy mountains of Afghanistan with his small troop of
ten men, they were the most elite soldiers in the US Military. There was another man traveling
with Sgt. Jefferson and his men that seemed to think that he was in control of the operation, but

Just when the squad least expected it, they were ambushed by a group of 50
Taliban soldiers. The soldiers scrambled to cover and began returning fire. At least three of the
solders had been shot and were badly wounded. Sgt. Jefferson ordered the men to spread out and
try to push the enemy back towards where they came from. The soldiers could here the Taliban
scream, “Allahu Akbar!” I know that the soldiers all knew what was going to happen next. It
happened, a man came running from the cover of the Taliban screaming, “Allahu Akbar, Allahu
Akbar!” Sgt. Jefferson peaked his head above cover and aimed his rifle at the advancing suicide
bomber. Sgt. Jefferson took a long, deep breath and then took the shot. The bomber fell face
down int he dirt. Jefferson ducked back behind cover and let out a sigh of relief. Luckily, the
Taliban began to scramble and quickly became confused. The soldiers were able to push back the
enemy and regain control of the battle. Near the end of the skirmish, there were only two or three
Taliban that had escaped, the rest were taken care of by the US soldiers. I have been saying they,
