Unintentional actions can cause awful accidents. This symbolizes how even kind people can be immoral. This concept is exemplified in the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck when Lennie doesn’t think through his actions. Another example of this is in Night by Elie Wiesel when the son runs away from his father to survive. Finally, the court case of Menendez v. Terhune the Menendez when they tried to justify the murder of their parents. The unconscious acts of Lennie in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck lead to terrible incidents. Steinbeck exemplifies in the book how even good people can act in violent ways. John Steinbeck uses Lennie’s action of killing Curley’s wife to communicate to the audience how he isn’t killing her with malicious intent, but how he is a good person who acted violently. Curley’s wife is intrigued by Lennie and his infatuation with petting soft things. She giggled at him realizing how he was on the strange side, even so he seems harmless, and with his intentions he is. However, his actions cause great harm to her even if they were unintentional. To survive while moving locations they were required to run in extreme weather as well as go prolonged distances without breaks, this is very hard for old people (Weisel 90). The son knew he was being held back by his father, so he made the decision to continue at a faster pace leaving him behind. By leaving his father the rabbi‘s death is almost certain so some could argue that the son is responsible for his death, but the son was just trying to live (Weisel 91). The son is a good person who just wants to make it to the next day, but his violent action of leaving his father to fend off death by himself exemplifies how even good people have the ability to make violent
