Many people we know in life have struggled and most will remain complete strangers in this lifetime.There are some, who are fighting internally only to find they’re struggling against themselves. Olivia An Carpenter is, one of many teenagers who should be acknowledged for bravery and a continuous fight against, a sinister monster, depression. This has been the hardest challenge Olivia has and will face. Olivia was thirteen, a middle school student when she started to fall into depression. Depression is characterized as, a mental health disorder that affects everyday life and its symptoms are, neverending feelings of sadness, hopelessness, unable to think clearly, restlessness, and can manifest into suicidal thoughts. Olivia has proven to be stronger than her depression and knows how to handle when she starts to feel depressed again. Though, depression doesn’t just go away, it can be managed with medications, therapy, and a balance of a healthy diet and exercise. Depression isn’t a fad and it doesn’t just come and go when people please, it is something that has much stigma towards it and one of Olivia’s goal in life is to, work towards that and raise awareness for mental health and others who suffer in silence because, of the stigma and stereotypes behind mental illness. …show more content…
