Olympic Stadium Bombing Case Study
With a goal to inspire and a passion to pursue, New Berlin Blitz has founded five FIRST LEGO League teams with intentions to educate the younger minds in our community. To reach students in early elementary, New Berlin Blitz is in the works of starting a Jr. FLL team at Poplar Creek elementary. Our FLL teams are enrolled at two district elementary schools and one private school. We are currently working to expand even further, and hope to initiate FLL teams at the remaining two district elementary schools. Founded three years ago, these FLL teams have exceeded our expectations.
Eliminating drugs has been a key focus point of police departments for a long time. It has become something that SWAT teams will do anything to bust, including breaking down doors. There is an argument between people who think no knock drug raids are necessary and those who believe they bring unnecessary consequences. Kevin Sack’s article, “Door-Busting Drug raids Leave a Trail of Blood” is exposing the flaws behind no-knock drug raids across the United States. Sack claims that they are not always necessary and are often approved without appropriate evidence that a raid is the best option.
In the article “Bombing survivor exemplifies resilience after miraculous recovery”, CBS News discusses how John Odom survives the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 and surprises doctor by being able to walk again. He begins by describing that he was in Boston to cheer on his daughter for participating in the Boston marathon but never got the chance due to the debris from explosion that went on. Suddenly, John had too many problems, he was losing too much blood and was thinking he was going to be gone before all the help had gotten there. In addition, when John arrived at the hospital he was taken into immediate care and had many procedures done and was waiting to recover very soon. Above all, John was one of the last patients to leave the hospital
The display heavily influenced him as a result after he returned to his studio in San Rafael, Farrow began creating sculptures of mosques and cathedrals using bronze. Then decorating them using guns, bullets, steel and bones. However before Farrow begins making these sculptures, first he starts with sketch books and architectural plans and does a great deal of research on the structures he creates. For an example the museum had one of Farrow’s structure called the “Bomb Mosque” which was based on a mosque in Pakistan that was bombed.

George Metesky was the NYC Mad Bomber. He was born November 2, 1903, in Connecticut, U.S.-died May 23, 1994. It was a 16-year manhunt and over those years he placed 33 bombs in public buildings in New York City. In December 1941, he sent a letter to the police headquarters, at the end of the letter he signed it as F.P. When caught and brought in for questioning, he confessed to the crimes and told law enforcement, “F.P.” stood for fair play.
Who knew a leader of a country that was so racist and cruel, known as Adolf Hitler, would host 1936 Olympics held in Berlin, Germany. Hitler did not like sports, but he still had to host the games as they were awarded to Berlin prior to Hitler taking power. Instead of being known as the Berlin Olympics they were called the Nazi Olympics. The Nazi Olympics came at an important time during World War II and was a distraction from the actual war going on. Hitler used the Olympics to help build support for his Nazi movement.
On the day of July 16th, 1942 , a horrible event took place. The Vel’d’Hiv Roundup. 4,500 French policemen arrested over 11,000 Jews. Within the short time frame of a week 13,000 Jews had were being held in the Vel’d’Hiv , the winter stadium , more then 4,000 children were with them. Children two years to sixteen years of age were arrested alongside their parent or guardian.
On September 15, 1963 the group made a dreadful act. They placed a bomb under a staircase to the basement of 16th Street Birmingham Baptist Church. Four Girls, Denise McNair, who was eleven, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Addie Mae Collins, which were all 14, were killed in the bomb that exploded at 10:19 a.m(gale group). Twenty-two other people got injured, but were fortunate enough to survive. Former KKK members that included veterans supposedly committed the crime.
In the aftermath, thousands of black protesters gathered at the scene of the bombing. When the police went to break up the protests, violence broke out across the city. Many people were arrested and two young African American men died before the National Guard was called in and restored order. Also, the bombing impacted the support to end segregation greatly and adding more support from many angry people because of the four innocent little girl’s
The 16th Street Baptist Church bombing marked a turning point during the Civil Rights Movement. Intended as a meeting place for civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., the the attack created an uproar. The bombing took place in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963, and it was an act of white supremacist terrorism performed by the Klu Klux Klan. Sticks of dynamite were placed beneath the front steps of the church and went off as four colored girls were innocently walking by. On July 27, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia a bomb was detonated at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. One person was killed from the blast, and nearly 100 people were injured. However, the blast was believed to have had the ability to kill many more if it was not for one man. Richard Jewell was a former deputy sheriff and security guard for a college. Jewell was working a temporary job as a security guard at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when he found a suspicious backpack (Sack, 2013).
The book Baghdad Burning and the film Turtles Can Fly can both be very influential to a reader or viewer. These two works give an insightful look into Iraq during the time of the war on Iraq in 2003. Either of these works can provide a reader or viewer with many important lessons about Iraq, the Iraqis, and their culture. But, even though Riverbend’s book Baghdad Burning and Bahman Ghobadi’s movie Turtles Can Fly are both important works, Baghdad Burning by Riverbend is more important to help people think critically and understand important aspects of the world around them.
The Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 also had a huge impact on the United States. On this day, there was a bomb that went off at the finish line which killed three spectators and also wounded two hundred and sixty people (history.com) There was a manhunt after this happened to catch the suspects. It took them four days to find the first suspect which led to the rest of the suspect findings (history.com). Investigators found out that the plan for this attack was planned on their own and wasn’t connected to a terrorist organization in any way.
The year was 1939, in west Poland in a town called Kórnik, I lived with my wife in a small neighborhood where everyone helped each other. The first of september a fine day, going as usual. My wife and I at home watching the telly. The bomb raid siren sounded, we were terrified. I grabbed my wife, some money and ran to the car and just started driving till we couldn’t hear the sirens any more.
Munich, Germany is where the Nazi Party was formed in 1920. Munich was a major industrial and transport center and that is what made this city a major target for the allied bombers. Munich also created the first concentration camp 10 miles west of the city. Munich was important to the rise of Nazism and the Nazis called Munich the “Capital of Movement.” The Nazi Headquarters were also located in Munich.
