In the move and the story the Once-ler proves to be greedy, betrayer and eager. The Once-ler in this story can be compared to almost any average teenager nowadays. Teens today are absorbed by electronics and parting. If a teenage drops his/her plastic cup from a gas station most likely if he/her is outside will just leave on the ground. The Once-ler put smog in the lakes where the humming fish hummed and he polluted the air just like how a average teenage pollutes the ground around them by not throwing away their trash. First of all the Once-ler shows a greedy personality. To begin, in the Lorax the Once-ler wants to chop down truffula trees. For one, the Once-ler shuts his shade (on his window) on the Lorax right after the Once-ler had betrayed the Lorax and told his mom that they could start chopping the trees down. The Once-ler knew he had betrayed the Lorax here and you can tell he felt guilty if he did not feel guilty he would have faced the Lorax. Also the Once-ler chopped down all the trees and it sent all the animals away. (In Once-ler’s last scene with the animals leaving) the Once-ler came up to Pip Squeak and felt bad, the Once-ler tried to give Pip Squeak the marshmallow but Pip Squeak did not accept the offer. Because Pip Squeak felt betrayed by the Once-ler and no longer trusted him. The Once-ler betrays himself. Once every tree was gone, the air was all smogged, the water was gloop, and there was no more trees for the Once-ler to make money. First of all, the Once-ler gives ted the truffula tree side quicker than expected. This scene really shows how eager the Once-ler is to get the truffula trees back, but the Once-ler can’t plant the seed himself, So, the Once-ler gives ted the seed and his trust all in one hoping ted will do what is right. Also, the Once-ler yells at the Lorax (fights, raises voice) Many times throughout the story. The Once-ler yells at the Lorax wanting him to stop whatever he is doing are the Once-ler is in generally annoyed by the Lorax. Lastly, when the Once-ler’s mother asks to start chopping more trees down, The Once-ler does hesitate a bit but he does not give him mother any reason why they can’t cut the trees down so how was she supposed to know it was wrong. If the Once-ler would have just told his mother they can’t or did something else than tell them to go ahead and chop them down he could have saved the trees and the animals, But the Once-ler was eager and wanted to get money
