In the novel Hate That Cat by Sharon Creech, Jack grows tremendously throughout the course of his school year. He grows tremendously through the extended teaching of Miss Stretchberry, and this teaching allows him to learn more and become a better poet. One way she helps him became a better poet is by teaching him about the use of alliteration in poems (14). This helps Jack expand his knowledge of all of the different literary devises you can use in a poem, which also gets him thinking more and about what all and how he could use this literary devise in his poems. The American war is breaking families apart because of the disagreement of the concept of war. When the war begins, Creighton's son, Jethro sees that the war may be dividing north and the south from each other but also dividing people between his family. It wasn't what Jethro imagine the war would be like.
The novel, One for the Murphy’s, written by Lynda Mullaly Hunt is really entertaining. This book tells the story from Carley Connors point of view. Carley, the main character, has a very rough life, and is very tough. After her mother betrays her she gets moved into foster care. She gets put in an amazing foster home, and realizes what it’s like to have a family who cares for her.
In the essay “Take it in Strides” the author, Anna Macherchevich, develops an exciting and intriguing paper. She tells a compelling narrative that expresses the importance of cross country and her team to her life. To accomplish this, she used well thought out descriptive language and dialogue that gives a good understand to the reader of her love of the sport. Firstly, Macherchevich she explains how cross country had given her the ability to set her mind on a goal and push through all challenges.

In “My Papa’s waltz,” the author used “like” to compare how hard it was for the child (and the dad was drunk) and alliteration of /s/ (still and shirt).
