Ontario man fakes death to live lifelong dream
After being declared deceased in 1986, an Ontario man was found alive in the U.S. living a brand new life.
Jeff Walton, formerly known as Ronald Stan was declared deceased in 1986 following the fire of his barn in 1977. Although no human remains were found at the site of his barn in the Township of East Williams, there was no trace of Stan and his whereabouts. This led to him being declared deceased close to 10 years later in 1986. He left behind a wife and two kids. Almost 30 years later, Stan was found in a small town in Oklahoma living a second life under the name of Jeff Walton. After devising an escape plan for weeks, he finally set his plan into motion by setting his barn on fire. Leaving his cheating wife and his 2 step kids behind, Ronald Stan set out to remake himself and pursue his true talent, Riverdance.
After being ridiculed for years by his wife and family for his natural talent of Irish step dancing, Ronald Stan decided to remake himself and start over. By faking his own death, Stan was able to start a new judgment free life doing the thing he loved most, dance. With his two legs that moved faster than the speed of light, Stan auditioned for the world renowned show, Riverdance under his new identity, Jeff Walton. Walton was not only accepted to join the cast but was given the title of principal dancer, lead of the show for his extraordinary talents.
CTV News had a chance to interview Walton’s Riverdance co-star, Amy-Mae Doherty. “Jeff had talent like no other. Although he had the physique of a large lumberjack, he flew across the stage, dancing as light as a feather. He defied all odds and graced the stage with his majestic talent every night for 20 years.
