The article on CNN, “Police: Remains Found under a Bridge Likely Student Who Vanished in 1998”, starts off with explaining how Robert Kovack had gone missing in 1998 on his way to his parent house in West Virginia. Eighteen Years later there was a body found under the New River Grove Bridge. Turns out there was a wallet and identification confirming that the bones of the body was in fact Kovack. The case has now been reopened and tests are going to be done to figure out what was the cause of death. After the search for Kovack in 1998 there had been four dozen other bodies found under that exact bridge. This case relates to our business law class because it talks about evidence, certain type of court system, and the unknown fact of a whether this was a felony or misdemeanor crime. Evidence are the materials presented to prove or disprove alleged facts. The evidence in this case was the wallet of Kovack found under the bridge. Along with the evidence back in 1998 from the first missing person’s report. The evidence from that long ago may still be valid in this ongoing investigation. This case will most likely stay in the state court system of West Virginia. That is because there was no other crime committed outside of the state of West Virginia, or even with someone who lives within another state. This case is being under investigation for the second time, but this time they have the bones of the victim and are currently doing tests to find out the cause of death.
