Charlemagne who was also known as Charles the Great, was the king of the Frankish Empire and later the Holy Roman Empire during the 8th and 9th centuries. From many perspectives, Charlemagne was a hero. He played a huge role in conquering France, Germany and the Holy Roman Empire which unified Europe into what it is today. This also stabilised the economic growth of the regions which he conquered. He also brought an even stronger sense of religion in Europe. Charlemagne was a devout Christian and after he had conquered most of Europe, he built many churches and monasteries, helped many priests learn about Christianity and was known for his strong relationship with popes. The king brought reliable education to Europe and made sure that children got the education they needed. He was a supporter of education and he founded many schools across his empire. He also brought in educators from around Europe to teach at the schools.
