Three Reasons to See an Optometrist First Rather Than an Ophthalmologist

Both an optometrist and an ophthalmologist are considered eye doctors, but there are are differences between the two types or doctors. Of course, if there is a sudden change in your vision, you should seek the advice of your primary care physician immediately. A preliminary diagnosis can be made, and if necessary, you can be referred to a specialist. However, if you have experienced a slow change in vision over time, it is best to first see an eye doctor, but it is an optometrist rather than a ophthalmologist that is the better choice.
