This case is about a single mother who suffered from Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) died 1 week before and left a 13-year-old daughter who also inherited the same disease. We are going to help the daughter to overcome the problems. TSC can be associated with developmental delay and seizures (Mayo Clinic, 2017). We will apply Orem’s self-care model to this case. The daughter is unable to take care of herself as she is too small and with developmental delay. Therefore, Orem’s model can be used to assess the self-care needs of the daughter so that to provide nursing care accordingly.

Self-care requisites are a component of the Orem’s model. It refers to the goal of self-care. There are three types of self-care requisites. In this essay, we will only focus on developmental self-care requisites and health deviation self-care requisites (Current Nursing, 2012). Perkins (2017) mentioned 70% of people could control seizures through medication. Thus, it is essential that the daughter takes drugs on time. However, patients with TSC suffer from developmental delay. Different drugs with different dosing time will make them confused, as a result, they may be unable to follow the prescribed time. Setting up a medication timetable can help to solve this problem (Anderson, 2014). Design a chart listed with the time for medication and mark different medicine with different colour for distinguishment. Placing different colour marks in the corresponding box on the medication schedule, indicates the intake time of medication. Hence, she can take medication on time according to the colour signs on the timetable. Besides, an electronic device will be introduced to the daughter as a reminder. Using a medication timetable or electronic device can help the daughter to take drugs on time so as to control
