Organizational Setting: Army Reserve Careers Division The United States Army Reserve Careers Division (ARCD) is a specialized unit within the United States Army Reserve (USAR). ARCD is composed of Senior Noncommissioned Officers and field grade Commissioned Officer. These technical experts serve countless hours to ensure the strength and the readiness of the USAR is achieved according to the guidance set forth from the United States Congress. In order to get a full understanding of ARCD’s organizational setting, the following areas will be examined as it pertains to ARCD: mission of the organization, their customers, individual values added to the organization, and the role of Christianity in the organization.

In other words, the US Congress determines how many Soldier, as known as end-strength, are needed in the USAR based on real world missions, future possible missions, and budget requirements. There are several organizations which contribute to the accomplished of the USAR end-strength; however, ARCD has the overall burden of ensuring the end of the year (EOY) end-strength is accomplished. How does ARCD accomplish their mission of EOY end-strength success? ARCD primarily accomplishes their mission by retaining Soldier which are already in the USAR. This is an extremely important function of ARCD because the US Government has invested several thousands of dollars into each Soldier for training, incentives, and readiness. As with most US Government agencies, the freedom to practice religion is allowed and encouraged; however, all religions must be given the same respect, to include those who do not practice religion. Therefore, what is said and how an individual addresses religion with ARCD must be carefully considered. Religious teachers and preachers within ARCD, known as Chaplains, are allowed and authorized; however, Chaplains are branched specifically to be teachers of Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism based on their previous training. Therefore, Christianity has a role in ARCD but all other religions and non-religions also have an equal role in
