This was successful for many battles, and in war, but why did it stop? Some thought this was an unethical practice that took away the free will of a man to do as he pleased with his life.

The United States could have prevented many deaths by staying out of the war.
The Servicemembers' Readjustment Act of 1944—commonly known as the GI Bill of Rights—nearly stalled in Congress as members of the House and Senate debated provisions of the controversial bill. Some shunned the idea of paying unemployed veterans $20 a week because they thought it diminished their incentive to look for work. While others questioned the concept of sending battle-hardened veterans to colleges and universities, a privilege then reserved. Much of the urgency stemmed from a desire to avoid the missteps following World War I, when discharged veterans got little more than a $60 allowance and a train ticket home. During the Great Depression, some veterans found it difficult to make a living.
Throughout history, countries are inevitably pulled into conflicts that result in war. These conflicts usually occur because of interests in: economic gain, territorial gain, religion, and nationalism. America, like every country, needs a military to defend itself, especially when tensions arise in other parts of the world and when militia numbers start to decrease. This then allows the government to draft its population to serve in the military. People argue that young men and women’s bright lives are often cut short, and not allowed their Constitutional right to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”, but there are many benefits for the nation and the individual by serving one’s country.
The United States is a nation that was created from war. America’s first war was fought for independence from Great Britain and is arguably the proudest victory in history for Americans. Our key freedoms may have been thought of in the mind of our founders, but they were won on the battlefield. The United States has since then become one of the freest countries in the entire world. No other country’s military could come close to the greatness of the United States’ military.
What are the issues your group is concerned with? Veterans of Foreign Wars is concerned in ensuring that veterans are respected for their service to the United States. That they receive entitlements and that they are recognized for the sacrifices they and their families make on behalf of the United States. The VFW has worked on a G.I. Bill for the 20th Century, they have also had a hand in the development of the national cemetery system. They have fought for compensation for veterans of the Vietnam War that were exposed to Agent Orange as well as for veterans that that were diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome.
The U.S. military is one of the most powerful in the world. If the strong survive, according to Darwin's natural selection, the U.S. would be one of the most desirable countries to be a member of. The greatness of being an American, living in a country with a strong military is that I can travel to distant places and still be under American jurisdiction. I can go ice fishing in Alaska.
What Are the Pros and Cons of Military Spending? As the US economy tanked, the banks have been bailing out and the country losing its jobs, its military spending has continued to grow. For the past years, it is recorded to have increased more than 100%, which is very high compared to the height of Ronald Reagan’s presidency and the Cold War. The money allocated for the defense budget is used to purchase sophisticated weapons that often do not make it into production, but when they do, they are just too expensive to maintain.
It’s hard to say. People willingly join the military knowing the dangers, but they do it anyway because they love this country. I believe that it's best for the United States to avoid going to war as much as they can. The only time I would see it fit is if we or one of our allies were being attacked
Commitment, dedication, and motivation are the three most important values when joining the military. Background checks and months of training are required to ensure that the best is selected to stand strong as one for the best interest of all. Regardless of the requisites, hundreds of individuals devote their time to become part of the US military, unfortunately it is not meant for everyone. If they do this then the US will continue to have the most powerful military in the world, and if they have the most powerful military in the world and the children of tomorrow will have the freedom that they deserve. The military protects us everyday. It’s time for the people of America to give back to our great military. Mandatory military service will bankrupt to U.S. and send her into a state of crisis and people don’t have the money to donate or give to a new tax.
Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today. Becoming a member of the United States Army recruiting team means having a physical and mental toughness in order to perform efficiently.
