Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed were responsible for plotting 9/11. I agree with you Osama Bin Laden was educated, dedicated to his cause and he did not show no remorse for the deaths of 2,996 people including the 19 hijackers and 2,977 victims. In the book, My Brother Sam is Dead, the authors James and Christopher Collier show that war is never fair and they are against it. They use Tim and Sam Meeker to show how it is not fair. The authors use separation of families, gruesome killings, and principle versus realities to show that they are against war. War has many effects on people and has taken many innocent lives.

The assassination of Osama Bin Laden occurred on May 2, 2011 over ballistic trauma which is a gunshot wound to the head in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
In the 1980’s the US Government trained, armed, funded and supported Osama Bin Laden and his followers in Afghanistan during the cold war. With a huge investment of 3 billion dollars, the CIA effectively created and nurtured Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network using US taxpayer money. US citizens would be horrified that one of America’s worst enemies had been trained and supported by their own Government In 1982, Saddam Hussein was given money and arms by the US Government. The US Government also knew he was using chemical weaponry such as mustard gas that they kept quiet. The US wanted to build up Iraq as a military counterweight to Iran and wanted Iraq as an ally.

Osama Bin Laden’s death did not become the guarantee for peace and security. In 1997, bin Laden declared war against the United States, four years after the first Trade Center bombing. During this time, bin Laden was plotting his next attack to kill thousands of innocent Americans. In 1998, al-Qaeda suicide bombers drove truck bombs toward the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The initial stage which represented the beginning of the war in Afghanistan began shortly after the attacks of 11 September 2001 of the Twin Towers. President George W. Bush ordered strikes against the al Qaeda terrorist camps and the military troops of the Taliban. His main strategy was „to disrupt the use of Afghanistan as a terrorist base of operations and to attack the military capability of the Taliban regime”. As stated before, strategies and objectives were altered during these years and during 2003-2008, the strategies were modified in such a way that the USA had only allocated very low national resources, which affected massively the situation, in such a way that the objectives proved to be ineffective. Strategies and policies were and still are closely linked.
On October 7, 2001, the war between Afghanistan and the United States began. The war started because the United States wanted revenge after the 9/11 terrorist attack on the world trade center earlier that year. The war is sometimes called “The War on Terrorism” because the war was over ending terrorism and the Taliban. The Taliban had also been linked to many other terrorist attacks in the US: the world trade center bombing in 1993, a USS Cole attack, and the attacks on the US embassy. The war began in Afghanistan when the United States went looking for the Taliban.
